In 2003 Lynn and Harald Husum were people watching in Brooklyn when they were inspired to design a line of fun, irreverent t-shirts for kids. In their tiny apartment they designed, dyed and screen printed their first line of pop-culture and street art influenced tees. The line was named Appaman after Harald’s childhood companion, a cheeky corduroy ape that he befriended while growing up in Norway.
Fifteen years, two daughters, and tens of thousands of clothes later, Appaman continues to create thoughtfully designed garments, drawing inspiration from childhood and current street style favorites. The goal has always been to design fashion uniquely for kids but loved by all.
