Amanda Uprichard launched her eponymous fashion label eight years ago in the basement of her house in Queens, New York, with just one assistant. She wanted to be home as much as possible with her daughter, who was seven at the time. Prior to that, she was a crazy young gal in NYC, attending the Parsons School of Design, doing way too much nightlife, singing in bands, but all the while designing, making, and selling clothes, honing her craft. She took a break from fashion and the craziness of New York, and joined the PTA of her daughter’s school, where she learned so much from the amazing women there. Every piece of Amanda Uprichard clothing pays homage to her varied experiences in New York City.
“People ask me who I design for, and I always say I draw inspiration from everyone. All kinds of women: doctors, writers, lawyers, sisters, cousins, moms, teenagers,” says Amanda.
Amanda's clothing starts off as sculpture. She usually drapes her work in progress on a mannequin, or anyone standing close by. She and her team sculpt the item until it becomes the easy-to-wear, pull-it-on piece of clothing that her line is known for: comfortable and luxurious with a splash of sexiness.
The Amanda Uprichard woman runs her own company during the day and meets up with her girls for happy hour after that. At home she’s a power mother juggling family, work, and life. She’s well-read, travels a lot and is constantly expanding her horizon. She’s attracted to the feminine, the sophisticated, a touch of edge.
