Founded in 1912, Sharp takes its name from one of its founder’s first inventions, the Ever-Sharp mechanical pencil. After a large earthquake, the company relocated to Osaka and started designing the first Japanese radio sets. In 1953, Sharp began producing TV sets. Creating the world’s first LCD calculator in 1973, Sharp helped to revolutionize how we think about numbers. Currently, Sharp is one of the worlds leading semiconductor companies.
