Not quite as bright as the picture shows. More of a classic fire engine red. Not much orange in person. Fit is very true to size for slacks, not jeans. Measurements are spot on. Would be tight is you use jeans sizing.

I bought these board shorts with the intention of using them as everyday shorts. This would also be my first pair of my board shorts. Overall the shorts are very nice. They have two cargo style pockets that I use to carry to my cell phone, wallet and keys. The front of the short is secured by a fake drawstring and the Velcro fly. My con to these shorts is the Velcro fly and here is my reason for it: As I explained above I bought these shorts to use as a regular everyday short. The first time I wore these was to do some errands and meet a friend for lunch. As I was walking from one store to another I felt the shorts sliding down on my waist. Now due to the fact these are board shorts they sit on the hip rather then your waist line something that I was not used to. So I thought the shorts were just moving around from the hip area, that and again I was not used to my shorts feeling lower on me. Next thing I know a few minutes later I hear the entire Velcro fly rip open exposing my underwear. I grabbed my shorts and resecured the Velcro fly, to only have the same thing happen again a few minutes later. Later on I met a friend for lunch. As we went to sit down at our booth the Velcro fly once again rips open. So as I was seated I went to try refasten the Velcro fly on to realize that when seated this is impossible. So thankfully no one noticed that my Velcro fly undone and my shirt covered my underwear. However stupid me at the end of lunch forgot about the Velcro fly and went to stand up and the shorts immediately fell down to my ankles, so now both my friend and those around us at the restaurant so a young man in his underwear. Again refastening the Velcro fly, however after only three steps the Velcro fly rips open, re fasten it and two seconds later same thing. So walking back to my car I had to hold the Velcro fly together to prevent any further embarrassment. So hopefully this gives you a sense of why I dislike the Velcro fly. I will keep the shorts but will be using them around the house for now.
