So I'm perpetually on a seasonal quest for a chic black suede bootie to wear with skirts and dresses. I usually avoid the
Nine West brand in general because they're typically not "quite" what I'm looking for -- namely, they don't look as well-made as I'd like and the heel isn't as high as it should be in order to achieve that polished, sophisticated look (v. the safe or even "dowdy" vibe, if you know what I mean). Well, these looked fab online, and they look fab in person but I have to concur with the other reviewers in that they: 1) run at least a 1/2 to a full size too large (I sent one pair back for a 1/2 size down and they still flop on my foot); and 2) feel "heavy" on the foot, which I think is not so much a function of the size as that the foot opening isn't tapered enough to "hug" the ankle area -- hence, they slop up and down and appear to be larger than they really are. Also, when will
Nine West and other midline shoe designers realize that a leather lining/footbed is so much more comfortable/luxurious than vinyl, and will make women want to buy and live in their
shoes 24/7? Every time I try a shoe with a vinyl lining, I feel like I've created "footswamps" by the
end of the day -- gross. Anyway, these look great, feel yucky. And run big. If none of these factors concerns you, the look is well worth the money.
