I have never tried the v1 of these
shoes, so I can't speak to how it compares to the previous version. But, all told, I really like this shoe. I wanted something that I could wear to 1) Zumba and 2) to do strength training/circuit training when I wasn't walking/running. This fits the bill. You're practically barefoot in this shoe. It will definitely take me a while to build up to using these all the time, but I'm interested in the benefits of barefoot training so I'm happy to invest the time. The upper part of the shoe offers good support so that you're foot isn't wiggling around which is nice. The shoe is crazy light weight - as you'd expect from a shoe with hardly anything to it! As others have noted, the
sole isn't the most flexible (which may take away from the barefoot factor) but that was something I appreciated. I do a lot of squats releve (on my toes) and had suffered an injury to the bone below my big toe in the pad of my foot. The solution for this is to have a less flexible
sole, so for my purposes this was really great and will hopefully help prevent reinjury. Somethings to note: 1) the box for the
shoes states that these are minimalist trail running
shoes, but from my limited time in them I feel they are much more multipurpose than that. 2) the
sole of the shoe is made by vibram, the makers of the toe
shoes. I can't remember if that was mentioned in the product description so I thought I'd mention it here. Finally, the most important factor to me was how they look. I bought the lavender/bright orange color and they are very cool looking! I'm very pleased with my purchase. The price is a little steep so I may try to
keep my eye out for a lower price, but I'm still very pleased.
