I bought these for my 6.5 year old, fashion conscious son who hates tying his
shoes. They are very lightweight and have a nice, wide toe box that just gave his normal-width feet some nice growing room. All in all, they seemed very comfortable and convenient. However, there are two major flaws. First, the tether is too long for said normal-width feet. When cinched, if you're not diligent about tucking it into the other laces (which is hard for a 6 year old), it drags on the floor. I don't think it created a trip hazard, but it looked like it would and his teachers commented on how he was always messing with them. Second, the toe box needs a larger area of reinforcement. My son has completely torn through the mesh (it's lightweight, breathable "fabric") between the reinforced toe and the laces. The
shoes fit him perfectly (the tips of his toes touch the edge of the reinforcement), but he's rough on his
shoes and these were ripped through within about 2 weeks. It's a shame, since these were the best shape/style/fit he's had in a while.
