This is a great hiking shoe if you have a wide toe box. I bought the 8's (I wear a size 7 in casual shoes and normally buy an 8 in a hiker). These were extremely comfortable right out of the box. I wore them for a week in the rain forest and mountains of Ecuador with no breaking-in period, and they were very comfortable and supportive.
