I love these. I have toothpick calves and a busted foot bone and these are wonderful (with their soles taken out and my orthodics put in). They actually tighten up! I could not get the string thing to stay tied so I tuck it in the boot and it looks slicker too. I am normally around an 8½ and the 40s were perfect. Thanks Zappos!

I love these boots. I have never spent so much on shoes, but they are so worth it. Finally, a tall boot that fits my skinny calves and narrow foot. I am a US 7, and the 38 fit great. Super comfortable; even more than my Sanitas. If the brand wasn't so expensive I would wear them exclusively!

Really lovely boots! I agree with the reviewer who felt they run a little bit small - I am a US size 7.5 and normally fit a Euro 38 perfectly, but this time it felt a little snug for a boot. The foot length seems right, though, so maybe the leather will stretch a bit. Ordering a size 39 as well for comparison, need to be sure at this price. I have fairly wide calves, so it's nice to have the laces at the back to loosen a little. The red color looks a bit brighter in the photos than in real life - I guess the clue is in the color name, Rioja, as they are definitely a red wine color. Usually it takes me many weeks and several Zappos orders to find the right fall-to-winter boots, I'm so glad I found these so quickly!

Wish they had half sizes. If you have wide feet, it will take a couple weeks for the leather to stretch. Many compliments I have received on these shoes... durable and stylish... very comfortable once broken in. El Naturalista are the only shoes I have worn for 5+ years. I have flat feet with a narrow heel and wide foot, so it's hard for me to find shoes.

I love these boots. LOVE THEM. I purchased them last year, or maybe the year before, and they have been my fall/winter staple ever since. Living in Colorado, I experience major temperature swings during these colder months. Two days ago it was 45F and sunny, and these boots were perfect over skinny jeans (or tights and a dress or skirt, or under boot cut jeans, whatever!). This morning it's 8F with snow on the ground; layered with wool socks underneath my fleece lined pants, these babies kept me toasty warm. They go from utilitarian to fashionista in no time, and are always good looking. Listing the number of times I've gotten compliments would be futile, it's been that many. I will admit the leather tie does come undone on its own more than I'd like, but the ability to loosen or tighten the width to accommodate either a thin pair of socks or four layers on my calves, outweighs any inconvenience. These are well worth the price.
