Let's say 4 1/2 stars. This is I guess the 3rd iteration of the Nike free run series I've worn, and by far the most comfortable, imho. These are a good median between a traditional, padded running shoe and a zero drop barefoot style shoe. There is a slight heel drop, but it's not very pronounced. The Free Runs have served me quite well on my transition to barefoot running. I have long-term issues with my Achilles tendon, therefore a sudden switch to zero drop shoes would have been disastrous; these provide me with just enough support. The 2014's also allow your toes more room to splay out as you run, giving a more barefoot-like feel, which I like. However (and I did not notice this until my 2nd or 3rd time out), if I am not laced up real tight this extra toe room causes my pinkie toe to scrape against the side of the shoe, and quickly blister. This does not occur if they're laced up as tight as they can go, but for that very reason, I'm not sure how these will perform long-term. For the moment at least, they are holding up rather well. And I couldn't emphasize enough how comfortable these are for just lounging around.
