About Constanca Basto
Constanca Basto was born and raised in Rio De Janero, Brazil. There, she learned the importance of fashion, art and personal style from her mother and grandmother. At a young age, Constanca Basto was inspired by visits with her mother’s cobbler, and she began creating her own shoes. She would bring whatever materials she had at her disposal to the cobbler to bring her ideas to life.
People began to take notice the unique style of Constanca Basto’s shoes and asked where they could find the shoes for themselves. She started off by making shoes for family and friends, and later began a business with her husband selling shoes at fashion fairs in Rio. In 1998, Constanca opened her first boutique. Rio's fashion elite quickly fell in love with the Constanca Basto collection of pumps and boots. She opened three more stores in Brazil before launching a location in New York City.
Constanca Basto continues to expand the collection across the globe. Constanca Basto shoes and boots are favorites among top celebrities and are often featured in prominent fashion magazines.
